WHAT IS A TRASH THE DRESS SESSION
Ok, so you’ve heard of trashing dress session, but I bet you’re also wondering what this type of shoot would look like and if it’s something you’re even interested in. Ok, I hear you! This type of session is definitely non-traditional and isn’t for every bride, so I won’t force you to do it! 🙂
But, if you’re down for exploring, you’re not afraid to get your dress wet and you’re up for a unique photoshoot with your partner, this is FOR SURE for you! If that sounds like something you’re up for, keep reading !
The idea of trashing the dress originated from the photographer, John Michael Cooper back in 2001 when he turned his idea — placing brides in unconventional wedding settings — into a trend. The term, “trashing the dress” has definitely evolved since then.
We do love the idea for a “trashing the dress” session to be more of a fun experience for couples to have after their wedding day in an epic location!
WHY DO A TRASH THE DRESS SESSION IN TAHITI ?

What’s super unique and awesome about Tahiti French Polynesia is that you can literally have a “trash the dress” session ANYWHERE — whether that’s the beach, mountains, on the ridges of the valleys, waterfall and even on water lilies ! Beauty is Everywhere in French Polynesia !

A Trash the Dress is a TOTAL worth and you want to know why? Because the day was exactly you ll be running around together on beautiful white beach sand, being surrounded by the mountain of the island and soaking up those first days of marriage in an intimate setting, while you are having it all captured so you can look back on that moment in time forever.
WATER LILIES , WATERFALLS, DARK SAND BEACHES
In Tahiti the nature is beautiful and there is always a place to take nice photos wether it s on a dark sand beach, in the forest or near a scenic waterfall.
When I was living in Bora Bora about 10 years ago i found a few amazing places full of water Lilies. I thought it was a kind of romantic place!
It remind me the type of places you could find on Pre-Raphaelites painting and i was particulary attracted by one of them named Ophelia by John Everett Millais; so i tried to find a couple who would accept to follow my idea to lie them in that muddy place ! Beleive me it was not easy ! But after about 30 couples saying no ! One said yes and thanks to it as their photo won a award from ISPWP (International Society of Professional Wedding Photographers) !

When i arrived in Bora Bora from France a few years ago i thought trashing the dress was a great idea : either in dark water with water lilies or in the pure blue crystal clear water every place with water was worthing it ! I began to ask my couples to jump in the water and i made them lying down to take photos from pontoon and decks. After a few years i choosed to give a higher level to my work and start to use the drone with the help of my husband (flying world Pictures) who is a fully certified drone operator ; We were the first in the world to take pictures his way and gained nternational recognition for this 😉
So now you know we are big fans of Aerial Trash the dress shot !
A FEW TIPS FOR TRASH THE DRESS PHOTOS SHOOTS !
→ Choose the right material for your bridal gown – be sure to pick a dress and a LIGHT fabric that will work well given your choice of “Trash the Dress” antics. Dresses with loads of lace, beautiful beading and intricate hand-crafted attributes will not all hold up to the elements of your shoot.
→ Bring a number of clothes with you just in case the first one didn’t work out that well, props to help create more stunning images and other essentials (towels, flat shoes, make up, hair brushe..) that will make your photo shoot comfortable.
→ For Men : go with basic boxers and your white button up dress shirt is ideal – no under shirts, tank tops it will look better on your photos !
